Kids Summer Camp in San Diego: Learn to Sew, Design & Create
Weekly and Daily Sessions All Summer Long
Shapes to Form’s summer camps are offered as week-long camps and one-day workshops for ages 9–15 at our downtown La Jolla studio.
Students learn both design and construction, gaining a true understanding of how sewing works, not just how to follow steps.
With small class sizes and a clear progression from beginner to independent creator, each student builds real skills, confidence, and creativity.
This camp stands apart by teaching both design and construction, not just step-by-step crafting, so students learn how sewing truly works rather than simply copying. With small class sizes, each student receives personalized support while progressing from beginner to independent creator. Throughout the week, students build skills in design thinking, learning how to turn ideas into wearable pieces while understanding shape, fabric, and function. They also develop hands-on sewing and technical skills, including hand stitching, safely operating a sewing machine, sewing straight seams, and following proper construction order. As they grow in confidence, students complete a series of real projects, from a hand-sewn starter piece and a functional bag or accessory to a custom-designed item and a wearable garment like a skirt or top, each one reinforcing their creativity, independence, and technical ability!
Camp runs for 5 days, with 3-hour sessions offered in either a morning (9:00 AM–12:00 PM) or afternoon (1:00–4:00 PM) time slot. Designed for ages 9–14, the program includes all materials and equipment needed. Please note that instructors may vary by week.
