What People are Saying
What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. We’re proud of where we’ve been and even more excited for what’s ahead. What sets us apart isn’t just our process—it’s the intention behind it. We take time to understand, explore, and create with purpose at every turn.
“5 stars! The sewing module in Art was really fun and easy to follow along. I liked the process of making stuffed animals, and enjoyed seeing the final product. I was very proud of my creation. Ms. Diana was really good because she helped a lot, making it easy to understand how to create the item and went around the room to help. What did I learn: I had no prior sewing experience and learned how to sew, how to piece together the parts, sew eyes, other create/attach accessories. I would love to take this class again and I recommend it to other people. ”
“I wanted to share my positive experience with the studio We found it through a friend’s recommendation, and my daughter has since participated in both after-school classes during middle school and summer camp. She enjoyed all of her experiences.
We particularly appreciate Diana, the owner and the teacher, who has created a fun and welcoming environment for the kiddos.
My daughter was so proud to make her own outfit for the fashion show, and I’m really looking forward to seeing all the students’ work showcased!”

It is brilliant to see her develop such a high level of focus. This is more than just a hobby; it is a lesson in how to build a world from scratch. We are so lucky to have found an instructor of Diana’s caliber and unique offering.

My student had a wonderful experience in the Sewing with Shapes class. It was her first experience with sewing, and she loved it! She worked on her projects at home, without me having to say anything, and her confidence grew. I would highly recommend!

“Absolutely wonderful sewing studio. Everyone who works here is welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. I had a project I was trying to get across the finish line, and they were so accommodating and helpful at every step.
The studio is right on the main drag in La Jolla, easy to find, and has such a warm, inspiring atmosphere. They offer sewing classes for all levels, private sewing lessons, beginner sewing classes, and even designer-focused workshops. It’s a great space for young girls and teens who want to learn how to sew, but it’s also perfect for adults… I took a class alongside a teenager and it was genuinely lovely.
If you’re looking for a sewing studio in La Jolla, sewing classes near San Diego, or a place to learn how to sew with supportive and skilled instructors, I highly recommend Shapes to Forms. It’s a welcoming and wonderful space for anyone wanting to learn, create, or improve their sewing skills.”

“Finding fun activities that can bridge the gap between abstract logic and tactile creation is a rarity. Diana has achieved exactly that at Shapes to Forms. My child is completely hooked on her sewing classes.
It is quite a pivot to go from trading stocks on Wall Street to teaching children the art of the stitch, but Diana’s background brings a distinct rigor to the studio. My daughter is learning that sewing is essentially applied physics (mechanics, tension, and material science), math, and geometry. Between the precise measurements and the inevitable trial and error of design, she is getting a hands-on STEM education disguised as a craft project.
It is brilliant to see her develop such a high level of focus. This is more than just a hobby; it is a lesson in how to build a world from scratch. We are so lucky to have found an instructor of Diana’s caliber and unique offering.”

“My daughter loved the class. She learned great foundational skills of stitching, drawing, and tailoring. She enjoyed seeing an idea on paper come to fruition. Several of her friends were in the class too, and they talked about it all week and looked forward to the time and experience together. She is proud of her final work and was excited to share her progress. She was responsible to keep on top of what she needed each week for class, including any prep work and bringing the materials on class day.
I would definitely recommend the class! Students get to apply math to real life hands on work, and they walk away with cute clothing they can wear. It was a fun and relaxing way to learn. ”

“Diana was an outstanding teaching designer to collaborate with in our middle school visual arts classroom! Her curriculum was thoughtful, engaging, and reflected important fundamental design concepts that tied into the California Visual Art Teaching & Learning Standards. Diana was organized and flexible, a terrific communicator, and adapted her instruction as needed to meet the needs of all students in the classroom. I can’t wait to have her back for another unit!”
